It is important to care for the whole person, not a disease or disorder.  It is vital to practice empathy and try to see the world from the perspective of the other person.  This training video provides great insight into how someone with dementia can feel.  It is very important to know if you are going to be able to treat the person the way you would want to be treated.

Watch this super emotional & viral video of former ballet dancer Marta Cinta González Saldaña, who had Alzheimer's and died in 2019, reacting to Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake music.

Music served as the catalyst to draw these people into their past memories and then helped them be better able to interact in the "now".  The search for what will help each elder with dementia reconnect with their past and carry it over to the present is an exciting therapeutic process.
